Mark Cross
Regional author Mark Cross visits Los Alamos on Sunday, August 26, at 2 to sign The Encyclopedia of Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico.
The first-of-its-kind reference book catalogs the people, places, arts, cultures and colloquialisms of the City Different and the Land of Enchantment. Compiled over 16 years, the book contains more than 1,000 entries—from the Aamodt Case to Zia, Zozobra, and Zuni Pueblo—and has 180 illustrations, including photos, maps, drawings and graphs.
It covers towns, landmarks, flora, fauna, museums, newspapers, sites, family names and individuals—sprinkled with history, lore, and gossip. Cross has a master’s degree in American history from George Mason University. He has written book reviews for The Santa Fe New Mexican and worked as an editor for the New Mexico Legislature. The Encyclopedia of Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico is his first book.
